(from the Bean Sprout web site ) Finally a Banjo Ukulele that is ready for the 21st century! Bean Sprout banjo ukuleles are loud and bright but with a woody depth. Just what you need to cut through the band and get the volume you need, while producing the pleasing sound that you want!
The Bean Sprout is perfect for standard ukulele playing styles, using banjo finger-picks or for playing claw-hammer style.
The Bean Sprout is a new design that is the perfect mix of traditional and modern construction. The neck is of concert size with fourteen frets and a neck width of one and a half inches at the nut, which is wider and longer than any other banjo ukulele manufactured today. This creates not only a very comfortable feel while playing but also a very proportionate instrument, setting Bean Sprout apart from its competition.

In Hawaii, the Ukulele is an important part of the history and culture. It is the instrument that many Hawaiian school children learn, and continue to play throughout their lives.
Bear Creek Ukuleles are precisely made, with sturdy but light construction, and fine detail. These are not miniature guitars. Every facet of the instrument is scaled down to the thicknesses and dimensions of the originals, creating a sound that is sweet, punchy and responsive. They’re made with Hawaiian Koa: either highly figured or straight grain Koa is available.
Ukuleles can be ordered in Soprano, Concert, Tenor and Baritone sizes, with traditional Rope, Rosewood, or Ivoroid binding, Satin or high gloss lacquer finish, and custom inlays.

Boulder Creek Guitars has restarted the stalled evolution of the acoustic guitar. Ever since the “X” bracing system was patented 150 years ago, the status quo has reigned supreme. Boulder Creek Guitars believes that there is a better way to brace a guitar. That is why we have developed the exclusive Suspended Bracing System or “SBS” (patent pending). The “SBS” is a suspended bracing system and the first of its kind within the industry. It focuses on freeing the soundboard and allowing more vibration to produce a better tone and more sustain. The system works by utilizing aluminum tone bars that not only make the construction of the bracing system more durable but also allows the top to be free from the constrictions of the standard X bracing system.
“The Bag End Boys write contemporary pop songs that feature melodies that sometimes swirl in neat, unexpected ways. They can also cut a fine cover version of the Beatles classic, "The Word." Most amazing is how two ukes and two voices can sound so full. Further proof that the ukulele can rock and pop like its six string relative.” - Jim Beloff, Flea Market Music

“A strum is the execution of a rhythmic pattern — in a specific style”
One of the first skills a ukulele player learns is the art and craft of strumming, playing rhythm. This refers to an accompaniment technique suitable for the singer, singer - songwriter or someone who plays a support role for another instrument.
Strumming requires a specific set of skills. They are: 1) Memorization of chords 2) The ability to switch chords smoothly and 3) The ability to choose and execute a suitable rhythmic strum. It is this 3rd skill that is our focus in “A Guide to Ukulele Strums & Rhythmic Patterns”.
Though strumming looks natural to the casual observer, it is anything but natural to the beginning ukulele player. Even experienced players have difficulty in identifying and executing certain strums. Though this is one of those topics that is typically taken for granted, there is much to learn about rhythmic feels, accents, dynamics, strum direction, feel, percussive accents, idiomatic styles and tempo variation.
First and foremost, the subject of strumming is inseparably linked to rhythm. Though an ability to read rhythm is helpful, it’s not necessary to profit from this material.
